English Setter, Golden Retriever Dog Breeder - Brisbane, QLD

Most breeders that have this page will tell you a story about their first dog they owned and how they got involved with showing. I cannot give one of these stories due to the reason that I am 4th Generation born and raised in the Dog World. And now with my children the fun will be passed on down the chain. It is a hobby that myself and my family have enjoyed and WILL enjoy for many years to come.

As a child I was raised around many different breeds, our main breeds being Cocker Spaniels, English Setters and I have added Golden Retrievers, however we have also owned and shown American Cocker Spaniels, Whippets, English Springer Spaniels, English Pointers, Jack Russell Terriers, Standard Poodles and raced and shown Greyhounds. All of these breeds shown with success throughout the years gone by.

Dog showing has been a enjoyable hobby for me, and breeding is just as fun...my first litter that I can remember I was there to help whelp was when I was 8 years old...my parents left me with the babysitter while they went to buy a new car, and unfortunately our English Setter decided to whelp a day early. The babysitter had no idea and it was left up to myself to help the mother and clean the pups up...This was my litter I loved, and I remember crying as each pup left for their new homes and telling each buyer how to care for them. Since then, I have learned to let them go to good homes but the memories of that litter still lives in me. Remembering my mum saying..."We cant keep them all!" .

Of course Junior handlers was a must for me, and using our own breeds English Setters and Cocker Spaniels back then the rules for Junior Handlers were you could only win 3 times and once you had won with one breed you must use a different one. After qualifying twice a search to use another dog was on, "A Golden Retriever" someone suggested...and then came a dog I will always remember...Ch. Alubyc SS Enterprise (Harry). We did a lot of winning in handlers together, and all I ever wanted was a "Harry Pup". This came a few years later, being a Harry Grandson...Ch. Abshe Excel (Rowdy). From there my lines grew and so did our kennels....with the Goldens then added.I was the first person to import an American Import Golden Retriever to Australian Show rings, and since then I have introduced a couple more to the showscene with a lot of Success.

We have had many In Show and In Group Awards with dogs I have owned and bred. Under International, Interstate and sometimes Local Judges. I have traveled interstate and overseas and have handled on many of these visits and moves.

My grandfather is an International All Breeds Judge and past CCCQ Councillor (having held this position for over 20 years). He has judged in many countries over the years with great success, with it comes a lot of knowledge and fascinating stories. My mother also being a licensed Gundog Judge for a while there, and now myself...I am currently a licensed Championship show Judge for Gundogs/Sporting Group, and have decided to continue on with studies for the Terrier group which I have completed and am now sitting for my Working Dogs and Hounds. Hopefully this will be enough to keep me busy for a while :)

With a lot of history in our family, we continue on for the future of the breeds and this hobby. Please visit our website for more information.
