Cats Queensland Inc.
Question. Do you health test in accordance with the current standards and recommended guidelines for your breed? Can you demonstrate your knowledge of any required DNA or other health related test results concerning your breed (if applicable).
Yes
My veterinary surgeon has been my vet. for 40 years. He and I have devised and implement a detailed program of monitoring of our cats. No queen has more than one litter per year. All kittens are house raised. All food is gourmet dry and wet food and only human-quality meat (e.g. beef stir fry strips) is fed.
Question. Do you ensure that your kittens are appropriately socialised? Please provide details about how you raise your kittens to ensure that their environmental and social needs are met, that they are suitable as pets. And, do you ensure that the new family understands and is equipped to continue this socialisation?
Yes
All kittens are raised in our bedroom and ensuite until they are old enough to move around the house and climb the internal stairs.
Question. What written information about the conditions of sale, warranty, and information concerning the care and maintenance of the breed do you provide?
Yes
All kittens must be indoor cats after sale. All buyers are interviewed by phone and, where possible, in person. All new owners are provided with a detailed information kit and told that they are welcome to contact us at any time during the cat's life if they have any questions.
Question. Is ensuring that your kittens go to the right home a high priority? How do you ensure that the kitten will be a good fit, and be well cared for in its new home? Do you have a verbal or personal interview?
Yes
All kittens must be indoor cats after sale. All buyers are interviewed by phone and in person. Where a buyer sounds as if she/he does not meet my standards I decline the sale or simply say that I do hot have any kittens available at that time.
Question. Do you offer ongoing support? For example: Help with introducing a kitten to other animals; help with any health or behavioural problems that might occur.
Yes
All kittens are sold with a detailed information kit about the kitten, the breed, keeping a cat, food and nutrition, dangers to cats, introducing a new cat to a household, finding a cat who has escaped from the house, The kit contains two email addresses, two mobile numbers and a landline number and buyers are told that they are welcome to contact us at any time during the life of the cat.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a kitten or cat if for some reason the new family are unable to care for it?
Yes
I always buy or take back any of our animals. I have taken back 10 year old cats when their owners were no longer able to keep them. I make it quite clear to buyers that any kitten/cat that is bred at our house must be returned to us and never on-sold or given to any other person.
Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
