ODINDISA - Registered Breeder of Swedish Vallhunds

Swedish Vallhund Dog Breeder - WA

Registered Breeder of Swedish Vallhunds.

Odindisa has great success in the conformation ring with Uffi, the foundation mother. Uffi has also shown aptitude in Obedience and Bale Hunt, and excels as a family companion, with a solid, sociable temperament.

Odindisa occasionally has puppies available and offers ongoing lifetime support to puppy owners. All puppies are vet checked, wormed, micro-chipped and have their first vaccinations prior to leaving for their new homes.

Pedigree papers are forwarded once processed by DogsWest. Puppies are normally sold on limited registration but please discuss if you are interested in showing.

We are anticipating a litter ready for their new homes for Christmas 2024.

Our standards & practices

Health testing & screening

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? If your breed is prone to health issues, what are they, and what testing practices do you have in place?
Answer. Yes.Odindisa breeding Vallhunds are genetically diversity tested with UC Davis. Vallhunds are DNA health tested prior to breeding to minimise the occurrence of Progressive Retinal Atrophy (Swedish Vallhund Type - SVR); Curly coat; Long coat; Dilute pigment (white). Uffi (Odindisa's foundation mother) is not a carrier for any of these health issues and therefore all puppies are clear by parentage. Vallhunds do not require hip, elbow or back scoring.

Preparation & socialisation

Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Answer. Yes.Odindisa is a small breeder and only have puppies every so often, which gives the ability to focus wholly on raising well rounded puppies. Puppies are raised the house as part of the family, guided by Puppy Culture principles & Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS). Puppies are raised as part of the family and are in the household environment. The puppies are provided lots of socialisation after the 6 week mark after first vaccinations and they love their outings in the car and to Bunnings. Personalities and homes best suited for the puppies are not assessed until 8 weeks.

Placement & matching

Question. Is making sure your puppies go to the right homes a priority? How do you ensure they are placed in loving, responsible homes?
Answer. Yes.Applicants complete a questionnaire and then consider a contract. We also arrange a meet and greet (if you are in another state we will try to arrange a meeting with a fellow breeder and their Vallhund).
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Answer. Yes.Once you have advised of your interest, you complete a questionnaire so that I can ensure the most suitable puppy is selected for you. A contract is provided and signed by both parties, which outlines health guarantees and conditions of sale. Pedigree papers are forwarded to you once they are processed by DogsWest. Puppies are available on Mains Register. Please let Odindisa know if you'd like to compete in sports or showing.

Ongoing support

Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Answer. Yes.Lifetime support is offered.
Question. Do you assist the buyer with re-homing an animal that was purchased from you if they are unable to keep it?
Answer. Yes.Should you become unable to care for your puppy then please consult with Odindisa about where the puppy is to be rehomed or return the puppy to Odindisa.
