Breeder Questionnaire

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? Do you have sensible, sustainable breeding strategies in place to promote the health of your dogs and puppies?
Yes
All breeding dogs are hip / elbow scored, and are all fully DNA tested for EIC and PRA and have full genetic profile done If the mother and father are both clear in the DNA testing there is no need for their progeny to be tested as they will be clear of these issues All this information is provided to puppy buyers in a folder when they pick up the pup at 8 weeks of age
Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Yes
Pups are well socialised with people and children and other dogs although care must be taken with other dogs as some older dogs do not like puppies and can bite and injure them. We do have an older retired bitch who is very good at grandmothering the pups and our younger labradors absolutely adore them
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Yes
We stand behind our product if something goes wrong and despite all the testing things can still go wrong and its important to understand this, there are no guarantees with genetics. We have strict requirements for our new puppy homes, and we conduct thorough interviews.
Question. Is ensuring that your puppies go to the right home a high priority? What type of measures do you take to ensure your dogs and puppies are going to go to loving homes?
Yes
Its a very high priority for us - that the pups go to good family homes. We do not sell pups to couples that both work full time, we require homes where someone will be with the puppy 95% of the time. We like good family homes with a stay at home mum preferably and also not with very young children who are often afraid of dogs and pups. We also like homes that have another dog for company for the pups. We like homes where the puppy will sleep inside and be a real member of the family, not stuck in a laundry to sleep or outside in a kennel. Young pups are the equivalent of a 2 yo toddler and must be very lovingly cared for and guided
Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Yes
We absolutely offer and welcome ongoing support, questions problems, anything at all and welcome photos and updates on the puppies progress
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a puppy or dog if for some reason the new family are no longer able to care for it?
Yes
Yes absolutely, we will take back the puppy and refund the money. In 20 years of breeding this has happened a couple of times, we would rather take back the puppy than have it end up at some shelter
Question. Do you offer pet insurance?
Breeder has not answered this question
