Breeder Questionnaire

Question. Do you health test appropriately (eg hip and elbow X-ray scoring, DNA testing), and understand the genetic issues that may affect your breed? Do you have sensible, sustainable breeding strategies in place to promote the health of your dogs and puppies?
Yes
I have all breeding Airedales Xrayed for HD and Elbows. I have imported 2 Airedales from the USA with the excellent health, temperament and structural backgrounds. My aim is to breed only the best with good genetic diversity to ensure the long term health and well-being of my dogs and for people who obtain my dogs.
Question. Do you ensure that your puppies are properly socialised?
Yes
I have 3 different activity areas for my puppies to experience as well as invite selective people to play with the puppies. I expose the puppies to different noises and my own mature dogs to ensure they have to right coping mechanisms before they go to their new forever homes and families.
Question. Do you have any of the following: conditions of sale, health guarantee or warranty, de-sexing agreement, a buyer questionnaire, verbal or personal interview?
Yes
I prefer to speak with prospective owners and for them to set up a time to visit to meet my dogs and myself to ensure this breed is suitable for them and their lifestyle. At the time the puppy goes to their new home they will be vet checked to ensure they are healthy, microchipped, receive at least the first course of their vaccination program between 6-8weeks (depending on age they may receive their their 2nd course), a complete puppy pack with a dog obedience book from a an acclaimed NSW dog trainer. I provide ongoing support throughout the puppy's life and depending on location in NSW I'm happy to undertake the puppies first grooming from 3 to 12months and provide grooming lessons at the time.
Question. Is ensuring that your puppies go to the right home a high priority? What type of measures do you take to ensure your dogs and puppies are going to go to loving homes?
Yes
I prefer to meet and chat with people and watch how they interact with my Airedales, know what types of breeds they have had previously, what work hours they do daily, their house set up, what activities do they undertake, how long will they spend with the puppy, what they will do in the first 3 months with puppy, the number and age of their children, the type of home they have and is it a secure environment for the puppy. At the end of the day it is important to ensure the puppy goes to the best forever home possible and the new family are aware of all Airedale behaviours as they are an independant, smart animal which require consistent, regular training.
Question. Do you offer ongoing support?
Yes
I am available to help my puppy people for the life of their Airedale with information and grooming ....I'm happy to have their dog stay if they are intending to go away. I also insist that if their circumstances change that they contact me to help rehome their dog and not to surrender it to a local pound or some other rehoming service. I would like to keep track of all my dogs throughout their lives to ensure I know how they are progressing.
Question. In the long term, do you assist with re-homing a puppy or dog if for some reason the new family are no longer able to care for it?
Yes
Please refer above
