WHAT ARE YOUR ADOPTION FEES ?
Two factors determine the adoption fee for our kittens. First, the colour and pattern, and second, how closely the kitten meets breed standards.
Pet quality $2750-3000
The kitten at this level will have at least one Show penalization or withheld from all awards at the show, i.e. lack of white belly strip, white on ears or tail, lack of white chin
Show quality $3500-$4500
The kittens at this level have no obvious Show penalization (small spots on the legs or paws are allowed), have strong profiles, and great eye colour.
WHAT ARE PEDIGREE AND WHY ARE THEY IMPORTANT ?
Pedigree papers can be thought of as the birth certificate of a cat. They are essentially a family tree of a cat showing at least three to five generations of family history. They are the only reliable way to prove that a cat is purebred. Not only do pedigree papers show lineage but they also show the credentials of your cat's ancestors, such as how successful they were at shows and any titles they were awarded.
HOW DO I IDENTIFY GENUINE BREEDERS?
Unfortunately, there are many "kitten scams" in Australia that try to leverage the popularity of the ragdoll breed for their financial advantage. Avoiding such breeders is an important step in ensuring you get a healthy, ethically breed kitten. Listed below are some good points you should ask when questioning breeders
1) They provide pedigree certificates for their kittens. Unethical breeders will make excuses to get around this. Things like "they don't need a pedigree because they are pets" are not legitimate reasons. The only way to be certain that you are adopting a genuine ragdoll is if they come with a certified pedigree. Pedigrees can be certified by cat associations, in Victoria we have three organisations. (GCCFV, FCCV & ANCATS)
2) They provide proof of DNA tests of the kitten's parents (negative for PKD & HCM)
3) They are happy to answer questions, share information about their breeding program, and are committed to being transparent about their breeding practices.
