During the hotter months its really important that you think about when and where you walk your dog. When it's 30 Deg C (86 Deg F), asphalt can reach 60 Deg C (140 Deg F). Concrete foot paths and pavements are similar and as many of us know, sand also heats up and can burn after just a few steps.
If in doubt, test with your hand or your own bare foot. If it's too hot for you it's too hot for your dog. Best solution is to walk early in the morning or late at night. This will also help avoid some of the other dangers of heat stress that can affect your pup.
